Another Draft Evasion Scheme Uncovered in Odesa
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has uncovered yet another draft evasion scheme in Ukraine's southern city of Odesa. Two individuals responsible for organizing the scheme have been detained and could face up to nine years in prison.
Alleged Embezzlement by Ukrainian Official
In a separate case, a senior Ukrainian Defense Ministry official has been detained for allegedly embezzling 15 billion hryvnias (around $578 million). The official faces charges of misappropriation and abuse of power.
Over 200 Charged for Illegally Disseminating Information
The SBU and the country's Prosecutor General's Office have charged over 200 individuals for allegedly illegally disseminating information about the work of Ukraine's military recruitment offices. These charges come amidst reports of widespread draft evasion and attempts to undermine the country's military.
Individuals Profiting from Draft Evasion Schemes Face Severe Consequences
The SBU has warned that individuals who profit from draft evasion schemes will face severe consequences. The agency has identified and dismantled several such schemes, including one that involved the production and sale of forged medical documents.
