Warriors legend Shaun Johnson announces retirement
Johnson to call time on storied 14-season NRL career at end of 2024
Warriors veteran halfback Shaun Johnson has announced he will retire at the end of the NRL season
The 33-year-old halfback informed teammates of his decision on Tuesday, bringing an end to a decorated career that has spanned 14 seasons and included 10 Tests for the Kiwis and five appearances for the Maori All Stars.
Johnson has been hampered by a chronic Achilles injury this season but returned from a six-week layoff to make his 265th career appearance for the Warriors in their round 18 clash with the Bulldogs.
A one-club man, Johnson has played all of his NRL football for the Warriors, making his debut in 2011 and quickly establishing himself as one of the most exciting young talents in the game.
He won the Dally M Rookie of the Year award in 2011 and was named the Warriors' player of the year in 2013 and 2014.
