Cade Jackie Povich, born April 12, 2000, is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles of Major League Baseball (MLB). The 6'3", 185-pound right-hander was drafted by the Orioles in the 2022 MLB Draft and is currently a member of their 40-man roster.
Early Career and Draft
Povich began his baseball career as a youth player in Reno, Nevada. He attended Reno High School, where he was a standout pitcher and shortstop. After graduating, he committed to play college baseball at the University of Nevada, Reno, but was drafted by the Orioles in the 27th round of the 2022 MLB Draft. He opted to sign with the Orioles and began his professional career in the Orioles' minor league system.
Professional Career
Povich began his professional career as a starter with the Aberdeen IronBirds in the Low-A East League. In 2023, he was promoted to the Delmarva Shorebirds in the High-A South Atlantic League and is currently pitching for the Bowie Baysox in the Double-A Eastern League. He has shown promise as a potential starter, demonstrating good control and command of his pitches. Povich has made 10 starts at the Double-A level, posting a 3.54 ERA. He has struck out 45 batters in 40.1 innings pitched.
